I hope everyone got a restful weekend, because in Donald Trump's country, women never get a break. On Monday, during a news conference where he spoke about a new trade deal with Canada and Mexico, Trump called on ABC News reporter Cecilia Vega to ask a question. When she hesitated, he mocked her and told her, "I know you're not thinking, you never do."
The entire exchange went like this:
President Trump: "She's shocked that I picked her. She's in a state of shock."
Vega: "I'm not, thank you Mr. President."
President Trump: "That's okay. I know you're not thinking, you never do."
Vega: "I'm sorry?"
President Trump: "No, go ahead."
After that moment, Vega tried to ask Trump a question about the current FBI investigation into Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and the sexual assault allegations against him, though Trump was more interested in answering questions about trade. Once she asked a question about trade, she tried to go back to her Kavanaugh question, but Trump refused and told her he would call on her again later. Watch the entire conversation, here:
